EDVENTURES: 10 OF MY FAVOURITE CAFES

Over the past 2 years, I've been going on edventures after edventures, and you can follow my journey on Instagram (#edventures2k13 and #edventures2k14). In case you think I can't spell, Edventures in Cëe's language stands for Edible Adventures. This is not a review about the cafes, it's just a list of my favourite cafes, in random order. I know this list may not be the "freshest" list you see, because a lot of the cafes mentioned are quite mainstream, but I hope that this list would be useful to those visiting Singapore. Warning, image heavy post.

Updated with ways to get to the cafes.

Since discovering it in December 2013, I've been to Artistry twice. I would go back more often for the plate of spaghetti you see above, if only it wasn't located so far from the MRT (train) station. The last time I went back (in June 2014), I couldn't find this spaghetti on the menu though or maybe I forgot the name. After your meal, you can always head to Haji Lane for cakes.

Artistry — 17 Jalan Pinang, Singapore 199149
Nearest MRT Station — Bugis (approximately 5-10 minutes walk from the train station)

There's always space for dessert, right? When at Elffin & Elffin, my friend and I shared their New York Cheesecake as well as Red Velvet. I really like how it tastes, but because I have no experience in cakes/desserts, I can't say if this is the best in town.

Elffin & Elffin — 29 Haji Lane, Singapore 189222
Nearest MRT Station — Bugis (5 minutes walk from Artistry.)

This list would be incomplete without PS Cafe @ Harding Road/Dempsey Hill. Hands down, this would be one of my favourite cafes because of the surrounding/ambience, as well as food. Service was pretty bad the second time I was there, but I shall stop harping on that issue. I hope that their service has improved since. I recommend getting a bowl of Truffle Fries and share it with your friends. While eating, make sure to enjoy the view. Opt to sit outdoors if the weather is good!

PS Cafe — 28B Harding Road, Singapore 249549
Nearest MRT Station — Orchard. However, do not attempt to walk from the train station, take one of the bus services mentioned below.
Bus Services — 7 ,75, 77, 105, 106, 123, 174 and NR8. Alight at CSC Dempsey Clubhouse.

New gem that I discovered the other day, thanks to my friend. House at Dempsey is located near PS Cafe. They open their doors at 11am on Saturdays and when I was there was 11:10am, half the area (not pictured) was already quite full. If you don't wish to make a reservation, then it's best to be there earlier! These photos were taken by my iPhone 5s, I regretted not bringing my camera. Sigh.

House at Dempsey — 8D Dempsey Road, Singapore 249672

My other favourite, would definitely be Toby's Estate! Been there thrice but had one unsuccessful attempt because it was so packed. I think Toby's Estate would take the top spot in this list because not only is their food good, the ambience is really lovely and their staff are so friendly. According to my friend, their coffee is also one of the best, I can't judge because I don't drink coffee.

Toby's Estate — 8 Rodyk Street #01-03/04, Singapore 238216
Nearest MRT Station — Clarke Quay (approximately 10-15 minutes walk from the train station.)

To be honest, when I first visited Flock Cafe I just wanted to take pictures of the typography on the walls. I didn't read any review about their food or drinks. But the pasta took my taste buds by surprise! It's been long since I've been there, and I'm not sure if they changed their menu. Other than Flock Cafe, around that area of Tiong Bahru there are many other cafes that you should try too.

Flock Cafe — 78 Moh Guan Terrace #01-25, Singapore 162078
Nearest MRT Station — Tiong Bahru (approximately 5-10 minutes walk from the train station.)

Can I say that this was the BEST Eggs Benedict I've tasted?! Visited Choupinette when a friend from Instagram visited Singapore. Everyday when I go to school, I will have the urge to alight the bus and have myself some Eggs Benedict.

Choupinette — 607 Bukit Timah Road, Singapore 269708
Nearest MRT Station — Botanic Gardens. Likewise, do not attempt to walk from the train station.
Bus Services — 66, 67, 74, 151, 154, 156, 157, 170, 171, 174, 852, 961, 961C. Alight at Coronation Plaza.

I apologise that this is my only picture from this cafe. I am drooling as I look at this picture! I think that it was totally worthwhile traveling from one end of the country to the other for this. Thinking of heading back there one day, since it is quite near to my school. I love the interior of this place (think bright yellow and blue).

W39 Bistro — 39 Jalan Mas Puteh, Singapore 128637
Nearest MRT Station — Clementi

Moving away from all these cafes located outside of malls, I visited Au Chocolat at MBS in March 2013. Haven't returned since, but damn, the fries. JUST LOOK AT THAT PICTURE! I think the food there isn't too bad but rather expensive, possibly due to the location. Also, do you think you can say no to those waffles? They do look like fried chicken with all those crusts, haha!

Au Chocolat — Just checked their website and realised that they are moving out. Oh well, till the new location!

Lastly, The Providore. Been here a total of 3 times, both times I had the steak sandwich except the last time because we ordered after 3pm. So do take note, if you want to try the steak sandwich. Actually, this is not an option, YOU SHOULD BE THERE BEFORE 3PM TO TRY THE STEAK SANDWICH. I am not even going to bother to apologise for this set of unflattering photos because the lighting that day was really horrible.

The Providore — Mandarin Gallery #02-05, 333A Orchard Rd, Singapore 238897
Nearest MRT Station — Somerset (approximately 5 minutes walk from the train station.)

Note to self: never do such a post in the middle of the night again.
Also, this is my 200th post. Wow!
