Evening Self Care Routine

It feels weird to be back before the year is over. I originally had planned for a 3 part gift guide series but after the second one went up my laptop died on me and I FINALLY got myself a replacement laptop. To say that 2017 has been a less than good year is an understatement.

ANYHOO, I don't want to end the year off on a bad note and since many of you took interest in my evening routine I thought I'll do a post on it and the products I use! You probably have endless Christmas gatherings and New Year Eve parties to attend so make yourself a cup of tea and let's get to work! ✧

This time of the year is the perfect time to take extra care of your health, your skin and your space. It's so important to treat yourself, and your skin, every now and then. I was able to have a mini detox sesh without my laptop and went all Marie Kondo sh*t in my room to spruce it up for the New Year. A clean and de-cluttered space really helps clear your mind.

First off after a warm shower or a long bath, is to cleanse your face of any dirt/makeup. I don't have a specific cleanser to recommend now so I'll just skip that. BUT on days that I wear makeup, I like to use Clinique's Bubble Mask to remove any residual makeup even after using makeup remover wipes.

This mask transforms from gel to bubbles within seconds. I leave it on my skin for half a minute before rinsing it off.

Step two, exfoliating. I don't do this step daily, maybe twice a week, as I don't want to strip my skin too much of its natural nutrients. Pixi Peel & Polish contains natural fruit enzymes (smells like there's Cucumber in it) that gently rids your face of dead skin cells.

Step three is the start of my usual evening routine. To be honest, I don't see any significant difference to my skin whether I skip this step or not but I just like to do it. I'm currently using Mamonde's Rose Water Toner and I highly recommend getting this in the 500ml because you get the best bang for the buck. I keep mine in the fridge so that it feels extra refreshing when applied on the face!

Step four for me would either be essence or serum. I switch around my serums a lot so I can't exactly recommend any, but I've recently been using The Ordinary Niacinamide & Zinc Serum. Another value for money product!

I did a review on this product before, click here to read.
I'll try to make the next sentence sound less confusing as possible. So if I'm using a wash off mask, I use it immediately after cleansing but if it's a leave on mask I use it as the final step in my evening routine to seal in all the goodness! Some of my current favourite masks are Mamonde Rose Mask, Fresh Rose Face MaskPhilosophy Total Matteness Mask, and Laneige Water Sleeping Mask. I switch between the mask depending on my mood and what my skin needs the most.

⇢ Mamonde Petal Purifying Bubble Mask Rose
As soon as the mask comes in contact with your skin, it starts to foam up with micro bubbles. Leave it on to dry and rinse off with warm water. I immediately noticed a difference on my skin, it's much smoother, radiant and brighter! After my family saw the difference it made, they too wanted to try. I'll definitely be repurchasing this mask as I've never tried something with such immediate and lasting effect.

If you're in Singapore, you can get your hands on Mamonde products either online or in-stores. They have an outlet at Takashimaya and I recommend heading down because you can also speak to their beauty advisors.

⇢ Fresh Rose Face Mask
This mask is infused with real rose petals and smells amazing, but I think some people may feel that the scent is too strong. It definitely feels very luxurious, together with its price tag, but you can feel a difference almost immediately! I love how supple and hydrated my skin felt right after rinsing the mask off.

⇢ Philosophy Total Matteness Pore Minimizing & Mattifying Cleanser + Mask
This guy was a rediscovery for me, over the months as I started collecting more and more skin care products this was chucked to the back. Now it's sitting front row on my shelf because I plan to use it every week. As you guys know, I have combination/oily skin so mud masks usually work on my skin. What I love about this is how it leaves my face matte (not dry), soft and supple for many hours. My pores also visibly shrunk (only for those few hours though). As a mud mask you only have to leave it on your face for 3-5 minutes, so if you're time starved this would be perfect for you!

⇢ Laneige Lavender Water Sleeping Mask
Can I just say I LOVE EVERYTHING AND ANYTHING LAVENDER SCENTED so of course I had to get my hands on this mask! This is a must have, I kid you not! If you don't like lavender scent, go for the regular one but you need this. Every time my skin feels tired and dehydrated, I slather this on and go to bed. Lavender scent usually helps relax you so it's perfect for use before bed. This mask works wonders overnight, the next day my skin feels rejuvenated and hydrated.

Nope, this entire blog post is not sponsored and all reviews are my own honest opinion. Which of these products have you tried and loved, or would love to try, let me know in the comments! Happy Boxing Day guys!
