My Current Skincare Routine

This post is long overdue, but as requested, here's an update on my daily skincare routine for oily skin. I like to keep my skincare routine as short as possible because I know I won't be able to follow through if it's too time consuming.

You and I both know the important of skincare, and starting on it as early as possible. I've been trying a couple of new products for a few months now and these products help keep my skin oil-free and acne at bay. I usually start off with cleansing my face with a foam cleanser, then continuing with toner.

⇢ Pixi Beauty Glow Tonic
While the Glow Tonic is described as a exfoliating toner, it really is so gentle that you can use it daily without over-exfoliating your skin. My skin is much more glowy than before, perhaps from the exfoliation, and my pores have also minimised.

⇢ Pixi Beauty Rose Caviar Essence
Next, I'll use Pixi's Rose Caviar Essence is a lightweight serum-gel that's enriched with encapsulated flower oils. I usually use this during the day, or under makeup. A bit of this product goes a really long way! When you first apply, the product comes out as a gel, but as soon as it comes in contact with your skin, it starts to liquify and become a bit more watery. This really helps with absorption and feels really refreshing. My skin instantly looks and feel so much more hydrated and brighter. It also has a mild rose scent, but it doesn't bother me.

 The Ordinary "Buffet" Serum
During the evening, I'll reach for The Ordinary's Buffet serum instead. It's a water-based serum with a myriad of anti-aging ingredients, and while I know this is a product "marketed" as anti-aging, it works perfectly in lightening my acne scars, and at the same time making my skin feel firmer, and reducing fine lines. A few days after I started using this, I could honestly see notable improvements, such as reduced redness on my skin from my acne scars. It has no fragrance and feels light on my skin, but did remain tacky for awhile.

⇢  Azelaic Acid Suspension 10%
After 15 - 20 minutes, to ensure the complete absorption of my serum, I apply a tiny bit of Azelaic acid on my problem areas. Azelaic acid is a naturally occurring acid that helps speed up skin renewal. Not only does this help combat existing acne, it also smoothes and mattify my face. If you're looking to target specifically acne scarring and renewing you skin, you may consider getting this or Vitamin C serums.

⇢ Fresh's Lotus Youth Preserve Face Cream
Lastly, it's important to keep your skin moisturised as that can help prevent your skin from overcompensating the lack of oil/dryness. For us with oily skin, I always prefer to go for a lightweight moisturiser instead. Fresh's Lotus Youth Preserve Face Cream is not the cheapest face cream around, but I can see the effects on my skin even on the very first use. My skin feels supple even after several hours, and I can see that my pores still remain tightened. The cucumber-scent is also a plus, as it's very refreshing!

End note: It is very important to allow every product you use to be properly absorbed into your skin before using the next product in your skincare regime. Also everyone's skin is different, and my skin happened to be loving these stuff. I hope this review would be helpful if you're looking to change  up your skincare routine!
